The Devil Never Leaves a Vacuum

Prayer was removed from our schools in 1962, and many people didn’t bat an eye. “You can’t tell people how to pray, or who to pray to,” they argued. “After all, it’s unfair to expect schools to favor Christianity over other world religions.” Many bought this lie, and many Christians fell silent.

But the Devil wasn’t silent. Whenever God is taken out of something, it’s not a vacuum for long. Satan was ready with a new religion: secular humanism. It taught atheism, that there is no God. So faith in God was replaced by trusting “anything-but-God.” No divine beings allowed.

And Satan didn’t stop there.

School books changed. In the name of “multi-cultural studies,” some students were instructed to pray a prayer to Allah, the false god of the Muslims. And this was a prayer to become a Muslim! The Devil never takes a break. He is always busy, undermining salvation by faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, sticking false gods in His place.

Now in “ethnic studies,” school children are instructed to pray to ancient Aztec gods, asking for help, thanking and getting to “invoke their assistance,” and “chant for emotional nourishment.” Again, students are instructed to do this. “You can’t tell people to pray, or who to pray to,” was a lie. They just didn’t like that it was to the true God of the Bible.

Brothers and Sisters, we cannot sit idly by and let the Devil continue to get a cloven foothold into our children and society. Let’s saturate the world with Chick tracts, while we have time. We need to counter the lies of the Devil with the truth of the gospel.

Planting seeds with gospel tracts has a proven fruit: the salvation of souls. Let’s “exhort one another daily, while it is called To day” (Hebrews 3:13). God willing, many of those seeds will sprout in grateful, newly-saved Christians.
