Dear Ones in Christ,
As I watched on TV the horror of the suicide bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen, I could not help but think about a part of this tragedy that is usually forgotten. On that little boat, two suicide bombers stood at attention as their bodies were ripped apart by the blast, expecting to awaken to a paradise.
They were sure they would be surrounded by beautiful women, rewarded by their god, Allah, for killing the sailors on that boat.
And I also thought of those sailors, knowing that almost certainly there were some who were not ready for eternity because they had not accepted God's forgiveness through his Son Jesus.
In an instant, on both sides of the conflict, precious human souls were swept into an eternity that held an ugly surprise ... hell. It didn't have to be that way. Jesus had already paid the price for forgiveness of sin and eternal life. But instead, when they awoke, they were shocked at what they saw. They died in their sins, without hope, without Christ.
Beloved, as war and bloodshed continue all over our world, people for whom Jesus died are running out of time. War is sweeping them quickly into hell. You and I have been called to find a way to reach them with the Gospel.
Who will you witness to today? It might be their last chance.
