Ecumenism is one of the more subtle of Satan`s deceptions. The recent release of a new document on evangelism rules is an example. The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Vatican`s Pontifical Council of Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) have spent five years deciding how best to share the "gospel" with other religions.
They finally came up with a few "rules" they all could live with. However, it is not the rules that are important. Understandably, given the nature of the framers, they say nothing offensive and deal only in broad generalities without biblical support. What is important is the audacity of anyone who calls himself an "evangelical" to be caught with such bedfellows in such a spoof of soul winning.
The Bible asks: "Can two walk together except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3) When you, as an evangelical, presume to "walk together" with representatives of the Vatican and leaders of denominations that use perverted bibles to tolerate sin, what path will you be on? The document frequently uses the word, "gospel." Yet Bible believers know that the gospel of the Pope is not the gospel of the Bible. And can you walk the same path with denominations that have elected sodomite bishops?
One of the deceptions of the "ecumenical" approach is the emphasis on working together on "common concerns." This can blunt the desire to confront the false doctrine of those you are working with. If Satan can get you to work together against abortion or same-sex marriage with Roman Catholics, you are more likely to believe the lie that they are truly "brothers in Christ." You are less likely to share with them the true gospel of salvation by faith alone without their wafer god, Virgin Mary goddess or eternal life through the "church." If you are working at "feeding the hungry" alongside members of "mainline denominations," you are not likely to risk damaging their friendship by pointing out to them that they have the wrong Bible that calls sodomites "temple prostitutes," thus clearing the way for them to accept homosexuals as pastors and bishops.
Geoff Tunnicliffe, secretary general of the WEA said that the document is a "collaboration between three Christian families of faith that jointly represent about 90 percent of all the Christians on the planet." How can this be true when each "family" has a different kind of faith? Truly biblical faith is trust alone in the finished work of Christ on the cross for forgiveness of sin.
Roman Catholic "faith" is in their traditions. They re-sacrifice their "Christ" in every Mass, pray to the Virgin Mary goddess for God`s favor, pay for their own sins in purgatory, and deny the clear assurance of heaven that the Bible teaches.
The WCC family "faith" is in a god of love who couldn`t possibly consign someone to hell. They trust a butchered Bible that supports homosexual priests and bishops, and trims away at the divinity of Jesus.
Much of their Bible is considered fables and legends, not really binding on modern man enlightened by "scientific discoveries" such as evolution and by superior, modern philosophies.
We are forced to conclude that this is but another plot by Satan to direct the attention away from his favorite prostitute church and also turn a blind eye to those who "name the name of Christ," but rationalize away His commandments.
The Bible says that we are to reprove the works of darkness, not get in bed with them. If we are "unequally yoked with unbelievers," we are less likely to warn them of hell and challenge them to full commitment to our mighty Lord.
