Thirteen members of the U.S. Congress have sent a formal letter to the UN Secretary General requesting that the UN supervise the upcoming presidential elections. Declaring that President Bush "stole the [2000] election," Florida Representative Corrine Brown said, "We need to make sure that it doesn't happen again."

"We firmly believe in the importance of international human rights law and its applicability and relevance to the U.S. as a member of the international community... We believe that the engagement of international election monitors has the potential to speed the necessary reform as well as reduce the likelihood of questionable practices and voter disenfranchisement on Election Day," the letter stated.

The UN has yet to respond, but the U.S. State Department sent a letter to the 13 congressmen that the United States had already invited a European-based security organization to observe the elections. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will be sending representatives to the U.S. in September to assess the task of monitoring the November 2 voting.

Euobserver.com states that, "The OSCE is the largest regional security organisation in the world with 55 participating States in Europe, Central Asia and North America. OSCE members, including the United States, agreed in 1990 in Copenhagen to allow fellow members to observe elections in one another's countries."

In the past, OSCE observers were present to monitor the November 2002 elections and the Recall of Governor Davis in California.

Jeff Deist, press secretary for Representative Ron Paul of Texas found the notion of UN supervision "preposterous." "The UN is rife with corruption and political intrigue; the UN is the last organization on earth that ought to be judging [America's] elections," Deist said.

These foreign organizations such as the UN are filled with members who are hostile to the gospel. Once we give them a say in the way we run our government, they will surely begin to lobby for elimination of our freedom to witness.

Our only defense is to win enough people to Christ that government leaders will be afraid to alienate the Bible believers. If we are to stall or turn back America's slide into the arms of the one world government, we need to rapidly increase the number of true Christians who will recognize the danger.
